Momfidence Principles

  • Principle #1: I Make Affection and Connection My #1 Job
"Can a mother forget her infant, be without tenderness for the child of her womb? Even should she forget, I will never forget you." - Isaiah 49:15 "And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love." - 1 Corinthians 13:13
  • Principle #2: I Am Proud to be a Work in Progress
"But God said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me." - 2 Corinthians 12:9
  • Principle #3: I Celebrate that I am “Wonderfully Made!”
"You knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well." - Psalm 139:13-14. "You are beautiful, my darling. There is no flaw in you." - Song of Songs 4:7 "Do not be somber like the hypocrites…Anoint your head and wash your face!" - Matt 6:15-17
  • Principle #4: I am Rooted in Grace
"She is clothed with strength and dignity, and laughs at the days to come." - Proverbs 31:25 "I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength." - Philippians 4:13
  • Principle #5: I Make Faith the Source of the Warmth in Our Home
"As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." - Joshua 24:15 "If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails." - 1 Corinthians 13:1-8
  • Principle #6: I Put People Before Things.
"Mary sat beside the Lord at his feet listening to him speak. Martha, burdened with much serving, came to him and said, 'Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me by myself to do the serving? Tell her to help me.' The Lord said to her in reply, 'Martha, Martha, you are anxious and worried about many things. There is need of only one thing. Mary has chosen the better part and it will not be taken from her.'” - Luke 10:42
  • Principle #7: I Strive to “be the Change” I Seek in my Family
"Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things." - Philippians 4:8 "For the grace of God has appeared, saving all and training us to reject godless ways and worldly desires and to live temperately, justly, and devoutly in this age, as we await the blessed hope, the appearance of the glory of the great God and of our savior Jesus Christ." - Titus 2:11-13
  • Principle #8: I Know it’s Not All Up to Me
"It is not good for man to be alone." - Genesis 2:18 "Where one alone may be overcome, two together can resist. A three-ply cord is not easily broken." - Ecclesiates 4:12
  • Principle #9: I Know 'Family Life” is Our Most Important Activity
"Whoever does not provide for relatives and especially family members has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever." - 1 Timothy 5:8 "Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their opponents in court." - Psalm 127:3-5 "Train up a child in the way he should go. Even when he is old he will not depart from it" - Proverbs 22:6
  • Principle #10: I Aim for Cozy, Not Perfect"
"Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people?" - Galatians 1:10 "Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience." - Colossians 3:12 "Through wisdom a house is built. And by understanding it is established; By knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches." - Proverbs 24:3-4.
